Remembering Lynn White-Shelby

Lynn celebrated her 40th anniversary in the Verdugo Glen Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) in June, 2020. She had served as President (5 terms), other offices, and chair of many committees. She introduced and mentored 45 women members into the Association, winning the ABWA Inner Circle Blue Sapphire Award. We’ll miss her many efforts in our community and beyond.

Lynn retired in 2002 from ACCO ENGINEERED SYSTEMS as Secretary to the President and Rideshare Coordinator/Environmental Coordinator. Previously, she had worked in numerous other ventures including teaching. Her civic activities in the community are well known.

For her work with Boys and Girls Club of Burbank and the Greater East Valley organization, she was honored with the Liz Shapiro Volunteer of the Year award for teaching and mentoring at the Main Club and at Roosevelt Elementary School. Business Life magazine – Women Achiever’s Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, and the U.S. Congressional District 28 – Woman of the Year Award (Burbank), and California State Senate Woman in Business Trailblazer Award.

For the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank and the Greater East Valley, she served on the Board of Directors, Board Secretary, and Board of Directors Advisory Board. She served the La Providencia Guild of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in several capacities: Consumer Liaison, Historian, Public Relations, President, Secretary, volunteer at Thrift Shop, Providence Health Systems – Fitness Center Leadership Council, and Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center – LIVE WELL BURBANK Task Force Committee.

For her volunteering in Burbank and the County of L.A., Lynn was presented with a special award at the Burbank City Council meeting and another at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion luncheon in recognition of Older American Month. She served on the City of Burbank Senior Citizens Board, recently as Board Chairman. Other volunteering efforts included DELTA GAMMA FRATERNITY, Salvation Army Angel Tree Volunteer, Burbank Coordinating Council Holiday volunteer, Optimist Club Halloween volunteer, and Burbank Starlight Hills Committee: President, Secretary, Historian and organizing their Neighborhood Watch Committee.
